Who we are

MAHP is an association of hospital pharmacists working in Malta and Gozo. MAHP was set up in April 2013 with the main aim of facilitating promotion and professional development of hospital pharmacy in Malta. In June 2013, MAHP was also accepted as a country member of the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP).

Mission Statement

MAHP is committed to promote and develop the hospital pharmacy profession within Malta through education, best-practice and research, and to collaborate with other healthcare professionals, in order to ensure the continuous improvement of care and outcomes for patients in the hospital setting.

Join Us

Membership is open to all hospital pharmacists working in Malta and Gozo. The annual membership fee is currently €20 (renewable in August). The fee can be paid to anyone of the committee members or by a cheque payable to the Malta Association of Hospital Pharmacists (MAHP) and sent by post to Ms. Kathlene Cassar, Treasurer MAHP. A receipt will be issued accordingly.

MAHP Mission

MAHP is committed to promote and develop the hospital pharmacy profession within Malta through education, best-practice and research, and to collaborate with other healthcare professionals, in order to ensure the continuous improvement of care and outcomes for patients in the hospital setting.

Our Goals

The aim of MAHP is the promotion and professional development of hospital pharmacy in Malta.

MAHP follows the European Association of Hospital Pharmacy objectives:

  • to promote and further develop hospital pharmacy
  • to unite into one group hospital pharmacists whose professional activities are concerned with hospital pharmacy
  • to foster a better understanding of the principles and practice of hospital pharmacy and maintain general joint pharmaceutical principles and a joint pharmaceutical policy, in the interest of public health and patients
  • to promote better care for hospitalised patients
  • to promote education and training of hospital pharmacists in Malta, in order to allow hospital pharmacists in Malta to contribute optimally to public health
  • to encourage standards of practice across all hospital pharmacies in Malta
  • to encourage research in all aspects of hospital pharmacy
  • to promote co-operation between the different hospital pharmacies in Malta
  • to facilitate the collection, exchange and dissemination of relevant information among hospital pharmacists
  • to support and uphold the common interests of hospital pharmacists in Malta
  • to collaborate with other national or international hospital pharmacy associations
  • to establish and maintain effective collaboration with governments, governmental organisations, professional bodies and other groups or individuals concerned with hospital pharmacy

Upcoming events organised by the MAHP

The 47th EAHP
General Assembly

The 47th EAHP General Assembly will be taking place in St Paul's Bay, Malta from 8-11 June 2017. The General Assembly of EAHP provides the opportunity for members to exchange views, share best practice and set the future direction of the Association. It is attended by at least two representatives from each of EAHP's Member countries, board of directors and secretariat. Over 100 delegates will attend this year's EAHP's GA in Malta.
